Duplicate Pattern Making with Kerry Turner – 11 & 18 September 2023
$50.00
Dates: Monday 11 & 18 September
Times: 10am to 12pm
Cost $50
This class will produce a pattern that you can use to make endless copies of a “garment that you love”. It’s very hard sometimes to find the perfect fitting pattern. Sometimes you have an item at home, and you want to make more of the same. Use it as a starting point. If you start from a “fit block” it can sometimes be a long process and can be very challenging. Even working out proportions in design lines that suit you can be a challenge. This is two session class over two weeks. We will go through the best ways to take and make the pattern as close to the loved garment as possible without taking the garment apart. We will demonstrate with an intermediate garment, but you will start with a basic garment. We will also talk about what constrains a flat pattern and how to transfer this across so you can sew the garment up and make it for yourself. Seam allowances, grain lines, fabric types, darts etc will all be covered.
This class would suit – The intermediate skilled sewer, someone with experience who has cut and sewn up a garment using a pattern. if you have no skills in sewing a garment you need to go to one of our beginners learn to sew classes before you join this class.
Materials List:
For the first lesson you will need pen/pencil and paper to make notes. You may bring the garment(s) you wish to ask questions about duplicating.
For the second lesson you will be attempting to duplicate the duplication on your own with assistance.
You may require certain tools which we can have available to purchase individually or as kit.
