Double Wedding Ring Block with Leonie Fraser – 18 October 25

Time: 9:30am setup for a 10am start, finishing at 2:30pm

Focus of the Workshop: Using templates to accurately cut and mark fabric, then sewing traditional blocks on your machine.

In this workshop you will use acrylic templates purchased from Leonie ($20 for the set) to cut and mark the fabric to make this beautiful traditional block. Then comes the surprise – no hand sewing!

We will piece the curved segments by machine using a technique made easy in this method. One full block will make a beautiful cushion cover or place mat, four will make a centre or runner, and 12 a quilt. You can use fat quarters, jelly roll strips or your scraps with a background fabric to make this beautiful quilt.

Level of skill required for this workshop: Suitable for all interested sewists. Being familiar with your machine; knowing how to thread it, change the bobbin, stitches, and the presser foot; is important.

This workshop will develop the following skills:
• Preparing materials.
• Using acrylic templates to accurately cut fabric
• Preparing material for accurate sewing.
• Piecing the layers of fabric to achieve a smooth curved seam.
