Cathedral Windows Quilt On Your Sewing Machine with Leonie Fraser – 15 March 24
$100.00
Date: TBA
Time: 9:30am setup for a 10am start, finishing at 2:30pm
Focus of this workshop: Sewing traditional quilt designs on your machine.
In this workshop we will be using a traditional quilt design, Cathedral Windows, to make a very warm quilt that does not have a layer of batting in it. It is a great scrap-buster, using a multitude of fabric pieces to achieve the multi-coloured ‘windows’. If you have a pretty charm pack, layer cake or mini-charm pack that you were wondering what to make into, this could be the answer you are looking for!
The bonus is that you are quilting and finishing as you sew – you only need to decide when to stop and the quilt is ready to use.
Level of skill required for this workshop: Suitable for all interested sewists. Being familiar with your machine; knowing how to thread it, change the bobbin, stitches, and the presser foot; is important.
This workshop will develop the following skills:
• Preparing materials.
• Using the iron to prepare material for sewing.
• Cutting, placing, and sewing layers of material to achieve an effect.
Note: You will need to purchase approximately 6m in total of a background fabric (the white in the picture) to complete a quilt that is about 38” x 49” (lap or throw size). This can be
made up of smaller amounts that tone together – a collection of tone-on-tone whites or creams, for example. You will not finish this quilt in the day of the class but will leave with everything you need to be able to go on to finish it at your pleasure.
A link to the materials list will be sent in your acknowledgement email.
