Working with Squares – A Quilt for Everyone with Leonie – 18 July 25

Date: Friday 18th July 2025
Time: 9:30am set up for a 10:00 start until 2:30pm

Focus of this workshop: Making a stunning quilt using the basic square shape and variations on it to make a quilt using scraps, material from your stash, or collections of favourite colours quickly

Spend a social day making a special quilt that will use your stash to create something unique quickly for a favourite friend, member of your family, or charity that you support. If you wish, your quilt
can be made simply of squares, or Leonie will help you create more complex patterns using the square in a square, diamond in a square, or hourglass block scattered through you quilt to create
even more visual texture. Choose your fabrics for a child’s quilt, a teenager, a boy or man – your stash will provide the basis for this project.

This session is for everyone – if you don’t know how to cut the fabric or stitch a quilting seam, Leonie will happily demonstrate and help you on the way in this venture.

Level of skill required for this workshop: Suitable for all interested sewists.

This workshop will develop the following skills:
• Cutting fabric accurately using a rotary cutter, ruler and mat.
• Techniques to aid sewing accurately.
• Matching seams for a perfect join.
