Time: 9:30am setup for a 10am start, finishing at 2:30pm
Focus of this workshop:Using your embroidery machine to complete a project using stabiliser and batting.
Your embroidery machine can be used to create beautiful objects – and the key to a great finish is knowing about the correct materials to use. In this workshop we will be using the Embroidery Files developed by Sweet Pea to create this bag. The bag features quilting and machine applique as well as embroidery. Once we have made all the panels, we will complete the construction using our machines without the embroidery unit attached.
You can choose one of two styles of bags for this workshop. The tote in the main image or the sewing bag.
To purchase the files from Sweet Peafor this workshop click here. You will also need to have the appropriate hoop for your machine (one that is equivalent or larger than 6×10 or one that I equivalent or larger than 8×12 in size).
Finished bag size:
Using a 6 x 10 hoop: 37cmW x 29cmL x 9cmD (14.5” x 11.5” x 3.5“)
Using a 8 x 12 hoop: 41cmW x 33cmL x 10cmD (16” x 13” x 4“)
Level of skill required for this workshop: Suitable for all interested sewists. Being familiar with your machine; knowing how to thread it, change the bobbin, stitches, and the presser foot; is important.
Note: you may choose to complete the Sewing Tote if you prefer. If you do, you will need to purchase the appropriate files to sew the tote from Sweet Pea.
This workshop will develop the following skills:
Preparing and organising materials.
Selecting threads and materials.
Setting up your machine and transferring the necessary files to it.
Inserting a magnetic closure.
Using bag batting and sewing through the layers.
Sewing a scalloped edge.
