Focus of this workshop: Accurate cutting, piecing and pressing, and using scraps!
The pinwheel block is a classic that looks easy but needs specific techniques to come together perfectly – and ready for easy quilting. Learn the technique and then apply it to variations and you will have a beautiful stand-by block to use for scrappy quilts, borders, accents and to apply to any project! We will be mastering the technique, then applying it to two variation patterns in this workshop to make three different blocks you can repeat to really bust those scraps!
We will be using scraps for this workshop combined with a neutral background will highlight the scraps and help to make them shine. Start collecting leftover 5” square or bigger scraps, jellyroll strips, charm squares, layer cake pieces – raid your fat quarter and scrap
box for this project!
Level of skill required for this workshop: Suitable for beginners and experienced quilters wanting to refresh their skills.
This workshop will develop the following skills:
• Choosing fabrics that will contrast and complement
each other in your finished work
• Cutting fabric accurately using a rotary cutter, ruler and mat
• Setting up your machine for piecing fabric
• Stitching an accurate ¼” seam
• Pressing and ironing biases and seams accurately
• Matching seams for a perfect join
