Date: Fridays, except Public Holidays, with the 4th week of each month being a scheduled technique session
Time: 4-7pm
The Canberra Sewing Quilting Circle is a welcoming, hands‑on community for quilters from all walks of life. If you love patchwork and Quilting and the endless possibilities of this craft come along and share that love with like minded quilters. It’s a friendly environment where the quilt police are locked out and you get to soak in the knowledge around the table. You even have a Quilting expert at your fingertips.
Whether you’re a beginner or a lifetime quilter, this club gives you a space to work on your own projects, to learn, experiment, and connect with others who share your passion. It’s a space where creativity thrives, and where makers of all skill levels come together to share the joy and therapy that Quilting provides us.
The club thrives on encouragement, shared discoveries, and the excitement of seeing what others create. It’s a supportive environment where questions are welcome and inspiration flows. We will encourage you to expand your skills, try new ideas, and connect with people who love the craft as much as you do. Every 4th Friday of the month is an opportunity to learn something new, spark creativity, and celebrate our collective skills and finishes together.
This is more than a sewing circle. We are encouraging creative exploration, from revisiting fundamentals – including faster ways to produce the tried and tested block components to colouring and embellishments. Each scheduled ‘learning session’ introduces fresh ideas and inspiration for your projects.
We will explore different techniques but have sufficient sessions where you can do your own thing, get help with solving a problem that you are having or participate in collaborative projects if you desire. This is about establishing a community that’s curious, supportive, and always ready to try something different. If you love all things Patchwork and Quilting you’ll feel right at home.
During each learning session we will spend approximately 15 – 20 minutes discussing a technique from the proposed list below and then those interested will have opportunity to try the technique shown.
Where specific materials are required for the learning session, there will be opportunity to use if suitable or purchase if required. You can opt in or out of the learning session activities on the night.
A suggested timetable for topics to be covered is (but happy to adjust if there are other preferences).
