Quilt As You Go Techniques with Leonie – Saturday 18 April 2026
$167.00
Date: 18th April 2026
Time: 10:00am – 2:30pm (9:30 setup)
Focus of this workshop: Understanding the different methods used for this technique and choosing the best for your project
There are at least five different methods of joining your already quilted blocks together – not to mention the variations that can be used to join borders to your quilt!
Quilt as you Go (QAYG) is a versatile technique that makes handling large quilts much easier. I love that when I finish joining my blocks, the quilt only needs binding to be finished!
In this workshop, I will demonstrate the various methods of joining and discuss the advantages and challenges of each. Discussion about the method you would like to use for your
own blocks will be encouraged, and help is available as you decide which method to use for the blocks you bring with you on the day. You can decide whether you want to use the
method you choose to join blocks for a table or bed runner, wall hanging, large quilt or project. Note that some of the methods are best for blocks not quilted edge to edge, while
others accommodate edge to edge quilting easily. You may not be able to use all the QAYG joining methods with blocks you have already quilted, but you will leave knowing how to
prepare blocks for the different methods shown. Bring some orphan blocks that have been longing to be joined, and let’s turn them into quilts!
Level of skill required for this workshop: Suitable for beginners and experienced quilters wanting to refresh or expand their skills.
This workshop will develop the following skills:
• Understanding the benefits and challenges of the QAYG methods
• Choosing the best method to join blocks using appropriate quilting to do so.
• Setting up your machine for QAYG joining
• Stitching seams, sashing, covers and quilting to finish your work
A link to the materials list will be sent in your acknowledgement email.
