The Canberra Sewing Machine Embroidery Club is a welcoming, hands‑on community for stitcher’s who love creativity, technology, and the thrill of watching a design come to life in thread. Whether you’re brand new to machine embroidery or already crafting intricate masterpieces, this club gives you a space to learn, experiment, and connect with others who share your passion. It’s a space where creativity meets technology, and where makers of all skill levels come together to learn, experiment, and share the joy of embroidery.

The club thrives on encouragement, shared discoveries, and the excitement of seeing what others create. It’s a friendly, supportive environment where questions are welcome and inspiration flows easily. We will encourage you to expand your skills, try new ideas, and connect with people who love the craft as much as you do. Every meeting is an opportunity to learn something new, spark creativity, and celebrate the art of embroidery together.

This isn’t your grandmother’s sewing circle. We are encouraging creative exploration, from appliqué and in‑the‑hoop projects to freestanding lace and 3D textures, each session introduces fresh ideas and inspiring possibilities

We will explore different techniques and materials, experiment with designs, stabilisers and push embroidery beyond the traditional hoop into a world of texture, technology, and modern style.

With hands on sessions you can do your own thing, solve a problem that you are having, participate in collaborative challenges, design swaps, and skill‑building that produce precision and creative results. Whatever you’re mastering, e.g. appliqué, or embroidering your first motif, you’ll find a community that’s curious, supportive, and always ready to try something bold.

Together, we’ll share tips, inspire each other, and turn ideas into stunning projects. Get ready to create like never before—your next masterpiece awaits!

During each club session we will spend approximately 15 minutes discussing a technical issue, such as needles, maintaining your machine, threads, stabilisers and other tools and their uses.

Then we will complete a project, where you will gain experience in changing various elements and tailoring a project to your preferences.

The design for each session at times will be provided and at other times, e.g. for a group project, will need to be purchased.
