Apple Core Quilts with Leonie – Saturday 11 April 2026 – Afternoon Class

Focus of this workshop: Accurate cutting, piecing and pressing, and using scraps!

The apple core block is a classic that looks easy but needs specific techniques to come together perfectly – sewing curves is sometimes considered to be a hand technique but Leonie is ready to share the hints that will help you master this block, and curved sewing, like a master! Spend a couple of hours learning how to draft apple core templates in any size and use some of your scraps to start your own adventure into curved sewing.

We will be using scraps for this workshop so start collecting leftover 9” square or bigger scraps – raid your fat quarter and scrap box for this project!

Level of skill required for this workshop: Suitable for beginners and experienced quilters wanting to
refresh or expand their skills.

This workshop will develop the following skills:
• Making a template of any size to suit
• Tracing and cutting curved templates ready for accurate sewing
• Setting up your machine for piecing fabric
• Stitching an accurate ¼” seam
• Pressing and ironing biases and seams accurately
• Matching curves for a perfect join
